Children’s Flu Vaccination

Last month we held a successful children’s flu Princesses and Heroes party.  The corridor and nurses’ rooms were transformed with fairy lights, decorations, balloons and glitter, with music from Disney films. The staff dressed up to make it a truly magical experience.
The children were encouraged to dress up too. There was also a lucky dip, cake and drink and the opportunity to take pictures with the staff. As you can see from this photo, there were lots of happy, smiling faces.
The event was attended by 39 children who left with a ‘Well Done’ certificate, cake and a toy!
We are still offering the children’s flu nasal spray to all children that were 2 and 3 years old on 31st August this year and those children that are now 4 years old but were still 3 on 31st August 2017 but I am afraid the princesses won’t be back until next year.  Also, children between the ages of 2 and 18 years old that have diabetes or asthma are ok to have the nasal spray at the surgery - just call reception to book in with a nurse or attend the walk in clinic between 6pm and 6.15 any evening,
Any child attending school aged 4 to 8 years will have the vaccination offered by their school, if the child was not at school on the arranged day they are not permitted to have the vaccine at the doctors surgery but should be offered an alternative date/venue by their school.
Annual flu vaccines are available for the over 65 year olds, younger patients with at risk conditions including, diabetes, COPD, heart failure, chronic kidney disease, pregnant ladies, carers and obese patients (BMI over 40).
Shingles vaccination is also available to certain age groups, these are all patients that are aged 70, 71 and 72 years old and catch up for those patients that are 78 and 79 years old. Anyone that has a lowered immunity for example taking oral steroids or having chemotherapy is not eligible.

26 April 2017 Thank you Liverton Hill Neighbourhood Watch!

Donation from Liverton Hill Neighbourhood Watch

Dr Kendrew was delighted to receive a donation of £300 which were the proceeds of the Safari Supper held on 18th February.
The practice has bought electronic weighing scales for some of their consulting rooms, so we really appreciate this kind gift.

09 April 2015 Named Accountable GP

As part of a national programme, all Practices are required to provide their patients with a named accountable GP who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that the surgery provides to them. Your named GP will have overall responsibility for your care but it does not prevent or restrict you from seeing any other GP or nurse in the Practice.
All Len Valley Practice patients have been allocated a GP.  If you are not sure who your named GP is or would like to change your named GP please speak to our reception team.
